"Curtis is doing absolutely everything right. He treated us like royalty. He ran sound like a pro. He has a loving and dedicated group of volunteers to help with every last detail. He's a great communicator. And he's an amazing cook, too! It's well worth the drive up the mountain to be a part of it all." - Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio

"Songs From The Wood, a superb concert series started up by Curtis Johnson, a man who really ought to give lessons in the art of running shows. He made us welcome, served us a gorgeous lunch, and we all sat out on the deck chatting about this and that -- so nice to be able to have a relaxed conversation without feeling like you’re being interviewed!" - Sarah McQuaid

How we operate:  Songs From the Wood House Concerts is 100% true to the house concert philosophy. We are proud to be a "Folk Alliance International Official House Concert."  Our concerts are held in our community clubhouse and as such are private events. We send out invitations, and accept referals and requests for invitations.  We collect donations at the door (as opposed to having a donation jar, hat, or bucket) and give 110% to the artist.  (110% is calculated as 100% of the door, plus the host adds 10%.)  Our home is one mile away from the clubhouse, and we provide overnight accommodations the night of the show.  We also encourage/welcome you to arrive the night before if routing permits to relax on the deck in one of the quietest places on earth.  Our neighborhood has miles of natural streams, hiking trails, and lots of wildlife.  We also provide meals and will accommodate any dietary concerns (we love a good challenge) For more information contact Curtis Johnson at
